The inspiration for this piece was the Milan, IN (the real Hickory that the movie Hoosiers was based on) water tower that was refurbished in recent history. I grew up when Bobby Knight was leading the Indiana Hoosiers, Bobby Leonard was coaching the Pacers and there was a single class basketball tournament where local kids became legends, Alford, Lewis, Blackmon, Skiles, Moore, McCallum, etc. and without the AAU/Shoe Companies controlling it all.
